ARKADA (2023)
together with Jasmína Lustigová
The short film Arkada tells the story of the floor of the Nový Smíchov shopping center in Prague. This partly live-action, partly animated video explores one of the first shopping malls built in the Czech Republic after 1990. It focuses on a building typology that was originally perceived as utopian, but today carries an uncertain economic promise.
The work examines the strategies used in the design of shopping centers, particularly in relation to the phenomenon of so-called Westernization. It also highlights the constant battle for the attention of visitors and proposes a series of spatial interventions that offer Nový Smíchov a humorous yet sincere form of therapy.
